Day 38-40: The Last of the Days and Realizations

So in total… I finished my cleanse just in time to head out to a bachelorette weekend with the girls. Was with worth it? After spending a weekend following a cleanse, binging on junk, yes, yes it was.

I spent the last 3 days of the cleanse trying to make it through so that I could go off and enjoy a weekend of fun with my girlfriends celebrating my best friend. I was so happy to be able to eat normal food again. However, my body really did well on the cleanse, and upon finishing the cleanse, I am happy to say, I think I like a healthy me too.

I lost 24 pounds total on the cleanse, and most importantly, I felt a lot healthier on the cleanse. I was feeling strong, and I had energy, and I was eating things that gave me good feelings throughout the day, not just junk and salt. I am so glad that I was able to feel better.

It was a hard cleanse to adjust to, but it was a great thing to be part of. I really enjoyed the fact that I was eating healthier and I was feeling great.

So would I do the PaleoCleanse again. Maybe. I wouldn’t be against it, but I might find a different way around it. I don’t necessarily feel like following the cleanse is the problem, as much as clean eating is the path in which I need to go down. I don’t think it should be a short term mentality either. What good is a cleanse if you bounce back and gain all the weight again? I want to change myself, not just for a short period, but for a long term.

So did I enjoy eating pizza and junk? Yes, it tasted good, but will I continue to do that? No. It didn’t feel good, and honestly, I can tell my taste buds have changed. Eating fatty foods don’t sit well anymore. I don’t want super sweet foods, and I don’t like the same foods I used to anymore. Carbs are not really my thing and suddenly, most french fries taste gross. I am changing and my needs as an adult are changing. What I thought my body needed 5 years ago, is not what it needs now. I am no longer growing and exploring. I know what I like, and I know what I need. I need to eat clean and green.

21 days of paleo extended to 40 days, but that is sometimes what you need. To eat clean, eat lots of greens, and give your body a chance to be healthy and sustain energy.
